Hi guys... I really hat the Wiki! Why, every time I add or change something, does everything change again?!?!
Anyway... I think that our analysis are too long and may be boring to read... I tried to divide mine in sections, as you can see in the wiki, and it seems more readable and "short", at least in my opinion! what do you think?
Another question is about references: everything I wrote comes from my brain, so I don't have references to add... Only in the introduction, but that is simple to adjust! What do you think...?

Well, you can download the movie or, and this is better, ask a friend of yours to do it for you! I can't believe that none of your friends knows how to use e-mule or u-torrent :p!

If you can't find the movie, begin your analysis of the other film, and tomorrow we will discuss about it during Skype! Don't worry!

To cut or not to cut...

Hey guys
I just posted my film analysis on the wiki for you to read/correct.

I just could not make it in less than 1000 words (1013 precisely...) and that is prett much the problem we discussed right from the start and then in the last post. I guess I could shrink the thing a bit more, but I'm reluctant to do so. I mean, I've alredy been cutting off more than I wished to and now I feel that taking anything more out of this almost-final draft would be to lose important information.

After all the movie is not so popular so I guess I'd better be more on the explicit side, right? I think the film analysis is pretty important if we want to have anything good at all to start from when we'll do the comparison, so I'm all in favour for a more 'flexible' amount of words in this part of the project.

I tried to write the plot and I have 250 words... is it too much? I wrote only the most important things, but if you think it's too much I can adjust it.
Secondly, what to you think of the table with three columns and the video next to the information? It's smaller than before, but we should see it anyway :)! I have only one doubt, that is that I don't see the videos... I mean, what I see is the green square, and not the Youtube logo! Does it happen only to my old and scassato (:p) computer or also to yours?
I also tried to add the table of contents but all I have now is a nice gray line... I don't know why!

Sorry I couldn't make it this morning. I didn't feel well. I will be more than happy to read over your English parts, before or after you give them to your teacher. I will check for spelling, grammar, and make suggestions, definitely! The movie "my name is tanino" my teacher has at her hour so she will bring it later this week. hopefully, i wil understand it, though, no subtitles!

this is an awesome plan, I'm so sorry I cannot be of more organizing help, being thousands of miles away and all! I know the good, the bad, the ugly was directed by an italian american, but is my name is tannino? is that an italian film or an american film by an italian director? i have not heard of that one.

i will also see if we have that movie in our library. we have a lot of foreign films, so i'll let you know tomorrow morning. if we don't have it, let me know if you have any other suggestions!

working with you all, enrico, martina, and anna has been awesome so far. i hope to meet you all someday.

Today in class we discussed about the project and its organization.
We thought to divide the work into four parts:

INTRODUCTION (about 200 max)

- title, images, links...

PART 1 ( about 600 words each in ENGLISH)

Italian students analyse and discuss American Movies about Italians (stereotypes)
- The godfather (Martina)
- Roman Holiday (Anna)
- Mac (Enrico)

PART 2 (800-1000 words in ITALIAN)

American student analyses and discusses Italian Movies about Americans (stereotypes)
- My name is Tanino (Allyson)
- The good, the bad, the ugly /Spaghetti western (Allyson)

PART 3 (about 250 words each in ENGLISH)

Italian students write a comparison between Italians and Americans with the information found out in the movies. Information about Italians will be written in Italian, information about America in English.

The movie's scheme should contain the title and the most important element related to stereotypes and a description of how the movie relates with stereotypes. We will link the title with a movie info page on an English or American website.

It's so funny to have a blog with people writing on it!! Well, we also have two other project to write in English, one about phonetics and phonology and the other about text analysis! So boring...

My question is: what are we going to analyse in the movies?
1. People/character
2. Places
3. Stereotypes

By the way, do we analyse only one aspect or one for each person? For example, I deal with places, Enrico with stereotypes, Martina with music and Allyson... well, with everything! With our help, of course!

Thank you so much for going over this project in English.. I can barely imagine trying to do this in Italian.. but you all are very good with English. You're so lucky, you get to start so young.. I couldn't start until I was about 14.

Anyway. I'm going to look over your proposals. I need to talk to my professoressa because I want to make sure this will work for all of us. I don't know how many classes you all take at one time or what other projects you have, but I have two research papers- 15 pages long! :( Plus, our classes end at the end of this month ! :)

Final project - Scheme

Hello everybody! Enrico, Martina and me, today after Skype lesson, have talked a little about this project, and we have thought to narrow our topic. As we all said, education is simply too wide, so we think that one aspect is enough!

Here is the theme of our project (or at least what we would like to focus on if Allyson agrees):
Comparison between American movies about Italy and Italian movies about America. We think that this can be a good topic than can be developed in the little time we have!

Here I write the movies that came to our mind.

A couple of movie tips for Allyson

Hey all. Since we talked about it just very quickly this afternoon during our Skypeing, I thought maybe Allyson would like to have a couple of titles written down.

These are movies by Italian director Sergio Leone and somehow deal with the issue of America seen through with eyes of an Italian artist.

-Once upon a time in America (C'era una volta in America) about the friendship between 4 kids growing up and growing apart. Beautiful, an absolute masterpiece. The uncut version is the best, the shorter one is ridicolous.

-For a few dollars more(good), For a fistful of dollars (medium) The good the bad and the ugly (great). The classic 'spaghetti western' trilogy, dealing with a tipically American movie genre.
